Nintendo 3ds and PlayStation Vita, Game Library Comparison

Persona 4 Golden Vs Pokemon X and Y

The bestsellers for both platforms, epic monster collecting anime style jrpgs with impressive runtimes to keep you occupied on the longest of car trips. Pokemon X and Y has a runtime of a mere 30 hours, while the vita's title doubles that at an impressive 60 hours. Pokemon X and Y focuses more on collecting as many monsters as possible, and every enemy you encounter can be collected, while Persona 4 has less of a collecting focus and at times even encourages getting rid of monsters you don't need anymore through features like the fusion system. Persona 4 Golden features an exclusive "social link" system unlike anything ever seen in Pokemon in which you can bond with friends and playthrough many character arch's to help you do better in any battles. Pokemon X and Y features a unique "duo release" system completely separating it from Persona 4 the game has two versions each including different features and, most majorly, different monsters you'll need to play with a friend who has the opposite version to be able to collect every monster. In terms of my preference these are pretty close but if I could only pick one game I would go with Persona 4 Golden for it's longer runtime and more personally touching story.

Tearaway vs Super Mario 3d Land

Now we're into the main 3d platformer of each console! Tearaway and Super Mario 3d Land share an equal runtime of 6 hours. Both games are bright and cheery children's 3d platformers and are a total blast to play though Tearaway has less of a focus on platforming and actually focuses more on combat. Tearaway focuses on utilizing the consoles features to do gimmicks and fourth wall breaks game you could find yourself using the rear touch pad to stick your finger right into the games world and mow down enemies, or the use the camera to poke your face into the game and become part of the sun, Tearaway has a paper cut origami art style with impressive attention to detail and the game can be praised for it's totally unique vibe as it absolutely reekes with personality. Super Mario 3d land is a more traditional game with a main focus one thing, fun and fun alone with game is a total blast from start to finish, with a ton of cute and creative levels to bounce, stomp, and land your way through. If I was to pick one of these two games to take on the go with me it hurts me to say but I would probably choose Super Mario 3d Land because it's simply more fun and nostalgic to me, I can definitely get a lot more time out of the game personally.

Super Mario Maker, vs LittleBigPlanet

Two 2d platformers focused on using the intuitive level editors to play, create, and share! Super Mario Maker has a 9 hour runtime while LittleBigPlanet has a slightly 7 hours. I want to say right now that I absolutely love both of these games but picking the better one here is unfortunately way too easy. Both of these games feature a campaign, and the farther you get in the campaigns the more items you unlock in the level editor however where these games truly shine is through the online ugc levels and the phenomenal level editors. LittleBigPlanet however contains an option to publish levels while Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3ds expects you to obtain the Wii U version of the game for level posting, LittleBigPlanet also container multiplayer capilities in level playing and in level creation, character customization on par with the likes of the Sims and Black Desert Online, and a far more more limitless create mode, LittleBigPlanet on playstation vita could almost be considered it's own game engine at times it's even possible to create a Mario level inside of LittleBigPlanet if you're ambitious enough. I love Mario maker to death but unfortunately LittleBigPlanet wins this contest.

Monster Hunter Generations vs Soul Sacrifice

The two big monster hunter games of each console! Soul Sacrifice has 31 hour runtime while Monster Hunter Generations almost doubles it with an impressive 53 minutes. I have to say both of these games impress incredibly in the graphics department, I didn't know 3ds games could look this good, and I didn't know that Vita games could look this good but if I had to say which one had better graphics I wouldn't be able to, these games are complete ties in the graphics department. Soul Sacrifice is fully voice acted while Monster Hunter forces you to read most of the dialogue in the game Soul Sacrifice true to it's name diffencistes it's combat system by being more sacrifice focused, every decision you make in this game will have consequences, do you want to level up your attack, or y ok ur defense? Used an attack to much? Then you run out, and you'll have to refill it later.

While I prefer Soul Sacrifice myself I believe I probably don't have the popular opinion here, and if I have to make a recommendation Monster Hunter Generations is probably the better game if all things are considered.

So which console has the better library? Well in the end it's really up to the player to decide, while one person could give a million reasons why 3ds games are better, another person could give just as much reasons as to why vita games are better and both could still be equally right in their own ways. In the end video games are about having fun, and fun isn't something can be objectively measured, the best recommendation I could give is to look at walkthroughs and trailers for each console and make your own judgement on what looks more fun to you, everyone likes their own things!
